I have now just 14 GB space left on my intern harddrive but still a lot to download for the library. I did not create any simbolic link yet You mean when I use the function "relocate soundlibrary " and select my extern harddrive as new storage place to all the new downloads also the alleready installed downloads will be relocated in the new extern harddisc without doing anything else?

I watched a video on youtube where the guy explained to program a simbolic link that Logic pro x will find all content from the soundlibrary in the new extern harddrive. You mean with the function of "relocate soundlibrary" this is not more necessary? Will the link with this function"relocate soundlibrary" automatically be established and the program will find all the content in the extern harddisc?

After that any additional content downloaded will be installed at the new location but since the internal drive has limited space you will still need to do it in smaller chunks as the original post mentioned. Nobody has mentioned that yet, but it is really not a good idea to have so little free space 14 GB on your system disk you need free space for RAM swapping purposes. If I were you I would move photo's, movies and Logic projects and other bulky files and documents to an external disk, and then you will also have more room to install the Logic library which you should then still move to an external, using symbolic links.

If you want to find out which files or folders are the biggest, open a Finder window for your system disk, then hit cmd-2 to get "list view" , then in the columns add "size" if it isn't already there , then in View options cmd-J tick "calculate all sizes".

Sometimes it can take a few minutes before all sizes are calculated also when you open a folder by clicking on the little disclosure triangle to the left of them , but then you can click on the "size" column header and the objects will be ordered according to size, so you can quickly spot where the big ones are.
